Back to Life

...Back to re-al-i-ty. What? Don't pretend that you never listened to En Vogue. And now, you can't get that song out of your head. (I am truly sorry about that. Really.) I must say, coming back from our mini vacay was a little bit rough. I mean, Chicago and Milwaukee weren't exactly blue skies and ocean views, but it was just what we needed. We had so much fun visiting with old work and medical school friends. It was so hard to come home to real life.

I'm not sure what we were thinking when we left. Apparently, we thought we were going to be gone for an entire month as opposed to the five days we were actually gone. Our fridge is so empty. We threw food away, dumped out milk, and didn't go grocery shopping before we left. Seriously, when I start eating Stella's gummy vitamins, because there is not a sweet thing in the house, I know I've hit rock bottom.  Don't worry. I only ate two. It could have been worse.  I guess instead of dreaming about reading books and sleeping on porch swings, I could wipe down the fridge and then go grocery shopping.  OR, I could just continue to open the fridge and every cupboard over and over again hoping that something delicious is going to magically appear.  You would've thought I had grown out of that game. Nope. I just keep playing even though I always lose.

  1. LOL...Why do we think something different is going to be in the fridge than was there 5 minutes ago?? I was just having this exact conversation with myself, and I also dipped into the gummy vitamins. It's not a pretty place to be. Actually, my kitchen in general is not a pretty place to be. On the up side, my kids think it's awesome that they are getting cold cereal for dinner.

  2. Lovely post, and I know exactly what you mean about the cupboard game. My whole family plays it, though in my case it's usually a fully stocked fridge and pantry, but there's never anything at all to eat. LOL You have a beautiful blog! Congrats on your SITS feature!

  3. Those swings/porches are amazing. Soothing just to look at.

But maybe you missed something the first five times you looked in the cupboard. Maybe it was hiding and you'll find it this time.

    Oh, the games we play.

    1. Oops, my bad! Google did me wrong! Oh well, never really listened to En Vogue (obviously, since I don't know what they sing), and I've never heard of Soul II Soul!

    2. Never mind---it's your flair for design and inspiration that keeps me coming back for more! I even got the Crate & Barrel Olin rug in black/ivory because I saw it on your blog and fell in love with it! You have an amazing eye!

  5. Haha! That's for getting that song stuck in my head. However, I do long for a porch as beautiful as the ones you posted!
