50 Things

Thank you to all those who participated in our Facebook Exchange. I liked lots of new pages and can't wait to check them out! While I was networking (little bit of a multi-tasker), I decided to tell you a little bit about myself. The post was originally titled, "100 Things," but let's be honest...50 was a stretch. I dare you to try it...and if you do, let me know. I'd love to read all about you! Here goes:

1|  I love interior design. And by love, I mean obsessed. See numbers 2, 3, and 4.

2| I sometimes walk into people's homes and mentally rearrange their furniture. Sorry, I can't help it.

3| Getting Pottery Barn and West Elm catalogs in the mail is like a little, mini birthday party every time.

4| I ALWAYS want two things for gifts: clothes or stuff for my house. I ALWAYS buy these things for myself even when it's not my birthday or Christmas.

5| If I could hire one house assistant-type person, I would hire a chef. Wouldn't that be the best thing ever?

6|  At church, one of the ways I contribute is to lead the music in sacrament meeting.  Sometimes I just mouth the words and wave my arms around, because I don't know the hymn. I'm pretty sure no one even notices. I also work with the children in the Primary. That's one's not as easy to fake.

7|  I'm a bit of a perfectionist.  Let me correct myself.  I am a total perfectionist.

8|  I have naturally curly hair that I have been straightening since I was 14.  Always want what you don't have!

9|  I love soft chocolate chip cookies, light on the chocolate chips.  I like to dunk them in milk. Don't even think you can trust me around a package of Oreos. There really aren't that many in an entire package.

10|  I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I am a Christian.  If you would like to know more about my beliefs, go here.

11|  We have the most wonderful, beautiful, happiest little girl named Stella.  We adopted her at birth, and it was an amazing experience.  We are hoping to adopt again soon to complete our little family.

12|  My favorite TV show of all time is Friends.  We own all 10 seasons, and I couldn't be happier now that it's on Nick at Night.  I dare you to challenge me at "Friends Scene It." We have the game.  Anyone want to play?

13|  I have lived in a lot of different places (starting from birth): Minnesota, Scotland, Utah, Maryland, Wisconsin, Missouri.  I guess it's not that many now that I write it out!  Oh well.

14|  I have had Hodgkin's Lymphoma twice. In July of 2005, I had a stem cell transplant. Feel free to ask me anything about it.  I'm an open book.

15|  I have hypothyroidism, so I have to take a pill every day for the rest of my life.  No biggie. Did you know that thyroid disorders are very common?  About 1 in 10 people have thyroid disorders.   There's a not so fun fun fact for you!

16|  I have never been to Disney. Not Disneyland, not Disney World. Deprived, totally deprived.

17|  When I was 16, I drove a 1988 red Chevy Nova.  I loved that car. I thought it was the best  ever...until I went to college.  And it sometimes wouldn't start.  Bye, bye Nova.

18|  I am third in my family.  I have an older brother, Kolby (MN), an older sister, Brittni (TX), and a younger brother, Mac (UT). We all look a lot a like, or so we hear.

19|  My initials are JJJ.  My husband's initial are JJJ.  Monogramming can sometimes be tricky.

20|  In a past life, I taught second grade for four years in Utah.  It was a lot of fun, a lot of hard work, and only a little tiny bit of money.  There's something wrong with that picture.

21|  I know this is weird, but there's no turning back, now. I hate it when things touch my hip bone.  I am super picky about waistlines.  There, that wasn't so bad, was it?

22|  I grew up in a teeny, tiny farming town called Delta, Utah.  I had horses and mules and rode and hunted a lot with my dad.  When I was 14, I shot a cougar.  It is mounted in my dad's basement where it will stay forever.

23|  I don't like to get dirty.  Say what you will.  I'm not taking it back.

24|  Sometimes I like to take handfuls of Stella's animal crackers and eat them in a bowl with milk like cereal. Have you ever tried the chocolate ones? So good. They kind of taste like Oreos. (see number 9)

25|  I buy huge bags of animal crackers and pretend like they are for my two year old.

26| I almost always wear stilettos. Except at the park, because they get stuck in the grass. I always get made fun of for it, or get asked questions about my shoes. So I'm at the zoo with 4 1/2 inch heels, what's to question?

27|  I am typically a very healthy person (besides the occasional entire batch of cookies). On most days, I eat six times a day. Meals 1-3 contain a lean protein, healthy starch, and a fruit with a low glycemic index. Meal 4 is a protein bar (sugar free) and a fruit. Meal 5 is a lean protein, green vegetable, and a starch. Meal 6 is a protein shake. We go through A LOT of fruit at our house!

28|  I think red velvet cake is totally overrated.

29|  My husband is an anesthesiologist resident. He has four months left, followed by a one year chronic pain management fellowship in Utah. When he completes his fellowship, he will have spent 13 years training. Don't even ask me how much money we have spent owe.

30|  I'm married to the most wonderful man on earth. Besides working his fanny off for us, he cleans the shower (worst thing ever), gasses up my car, and helps me with projects he really doesn't want any part in. He even thanks me for cleaning the house and doing the laundry. It's the little things, right?

31|  I have a bad habit of popping my knuckles.

32|  I am (luckily) not scared of needles and let Mr. Hubs practice starting IVs on me when he was training to be an EMT in undergrad. I know: Wife. Of. The. Year.  In other words, I'm pretty much the reason he's such an awesome anesthesiologist. And, if you'v ever had an epidural from him...you're welcome.

33|  My dream car is an Audi Q7. If my husband ever wants to surprise me with one, please let him know that I want white--in case Stella forgets to tell him.

34|  I hate any food with white sauce, because when I was going through chemotherapy, I had a major vomiting session after eating it. Makes me sick just thinking about it. And now, I've probably made all of you sick.

35| If I could be any fictional character, I would be Samantha Stephens (but with my own husband, of course). I mean, really, how cool would it be to wiggle your nose and just make stuff happen?

36|  I love going to school and may pursue another degree once my husband wraps up this whole doctor thing.

37|  I loved math until I had to take calculus in college. That was the worst. Experience. Ever. Both times.

38|  Mr. Hubs and I met at church while in college. We met in September, started dating in December, were engaged in February, and were married in May. We've been married for 12 years.

39|  Guilty pleasures: The Real Housewives of OC and Beverly Hills. Do women really act like that in real life?

40|  My brother and sister chose my name. I was named after the Bionic Woman...never seen it, but it sounds freaking awesome.

41|  We're all definitely morning people at our house. Sometimes it's because of Stella...

42|  Contrary to what they say, I could indeed live on bread alone. I love bread, which is exactly how I gained a few lbs in college...dang you, Einsteins Bagels! Silly me, I thought I was safe eating fat-free! Silly, naive, 19 year old, me!

43|  I definitely wear the pants in the family, and I pay for them, too. Well, I pick them out, same thing.

44|  I'm pretty sure I'm OCD. Exhibit 1: I fold all laundry into thirds. Exhibit 2: I can't fall asleep at night unless the closet doors are closed. Exhibit 3: When eating candy, I divide the pieces by color, then eat the best color last. Exhibit 4: Do we really need more evidence?

45|  Favorite movies: Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Sweet Home Alabama, and of course, Dumb & Dumber.

46. I LOVE to shop for clothes. I shop in my stilettos, and I can usually outlast anyone. Best shopping buddies: Mom, Brittni, Jeremy, & Stella (as long as there's a carousel and a pretzel shop for the last buddy).

47|  I love Taco Time--not Taco Bell, Taco Time. I think they're only in the west. And don't even get me started on Cafe' Rio. You should all fly to Utah just to partake in its goodness. It's really the main reason we're moving back to Utah. That and my husband's new job. And our families.

48|  I'm having a really hard time coming up with two more things.

49|  I can touch my nose with my tongue. I know...I'm really digging deep. One more.

50|  I love to dance and sing. I'm really not that good at either, but that doesn't stop me.

  1. I love interior design too and often mentally rearrange people's houses too. My house looks FABULOUS in my mind...not to find the time and the budget to DO the projects!

I cannot tough my tongue with my nose. In fact, I can barely stick out my tongue. I probably should have had the connection between my tongue and mouth clipped, but I made it this far without doing so, so I'll keep it th way it is!

  2. I seriously need to work on my blogging. Totally impressive that you came up with 50 things, even if the last two were a stretch. I think I would probably have a tough time with 15;) hehe. I'll have to try! Loved reading this, btw.

  9. I do the rearranging thing too! I'm telling you, I would LOVE to have another decor-obsessed person come to my house and tell me what sticks out to them, because you know how hard it gets to see your house with fresh eyes. Also, you should go curly! I have curly hair that I used to straighten, but life is SOOO much easier just jumping out of the shower and towel-drying. :)

  10. Visiting over from #SITS. Love your list. And we share quite a few things in common. I could live off bread ... seriously! Love the Housewives series ... not such a fan of the actual housewives though. And yes, red velvet is overrated. I also wear the pants in the family. ;)
