[so cheap, so easy]: Decorating with Branches

I'm not sure what my fascination is with sticks and branches, but it's true: I love them. I love the natural, raw, way of them. I'm pretty sure I have them in every room in some form or another. Stella often brings me sticks from outside, because she knows I love them, and I even keep those. When Christmastime rolls around, I have been known to have Hubs join me on a stick hunt, because I like to add them to my Christmas tree or put them in vases and hang ornaments from them. I finally talked him into just letting me store them for the next year, because sometimes those stick hunts get pretty cold. Unfortunately, the sticks from last year have found new homes around our house, so we will need more this year. I have a beaut of a branch that I found in the canyon while riding horses with my family one day. I've been mocked for that thing, but I have grand plans for that thing. I mean, really, look at all the amazing things you can do with a branch. Oh yeah, and they're free. P.S. Does this post make me sound weird or obsessive, or like a stick hoarder? It's okay if it does. I'm okay with all three.

  2. Oh, I LOVE the way the branch was used to create the bed canopy. So pretty. I don't think you sound like a weird stick hoarder, either. I've had a giant baggie of sticks, rocks and leaves saved up from the kids' "nature hikes" that I'll finally be using at Thanksgiving! Would love to see how you used all those sticks as decor in your own home!

  4. Just catching up on your blog and had to comment on this one because one day when I was visiting Diane Johnson she had a pile of awesome sticks on her front porch and I asked if I could take them. I still have them in a vase and double bonus they remind me of her. :)

    1. Oh yeah, can't ever pass up treasures like that! Jeremy makes fun of me, because there are sticks that we have moved all over the country! At least they're free!
