Battle of the Beds | Four Poster Beds

So...I haven't blogged in a while. As Stella says, "I got distracted." (For two (or more) weeks...story of my life.) The good news? I have made EVERY single decision for the new house. Of course, that doesn't include interior design, just all of the other stuff. I'm sure there will be plenty of time to lose sleep think over the interior. It's moving fast, and we're super excited!

So, speaking of the interior, something super annoying has happened: Jeremy all of a sudden has opinions on decor. I'm like, "Dude, this is my thing. I don't go around your clinic telling you what to do with your patients. Stella needs a four poster bed in her room.  Who cares if it blocks your line of vision, and since when did you start using the phrase line of vision?" I know. He's ridiculous. I knew you'd agree with me. So, let's look at some of inspiration pics for Stella's bed, shall we?

[color kreyv]: Black & White

Four words: black and white; yes and please. Enough said. (Oh, and I'm not counting the ands in my four words. Just making sure you all know I can, indeed, count.)

[in five]: Wallpaper Love

I would definitely hang wallpaper, would you? I should rephrase that: I would definitely love for someone else to hang wallpaper in my home. I can tell you right now that I wouldn't have the patience to hang it myself. I especially love it in a powder room or entry. Or a nursery. Or a kid's room. Oh, and of course wallpaper on a ceiling is pretty much amazing. Yes, those are the places I would hang wallpaper…but not all of those places, just one or two. I wouldn't want to overdo the wallpaper thing. That would be crazy, and I'm not crazy. Really.

Curtains: Can't Live With Em...

Was that a great Labor Day weekend, or what? We had so much quality family time. Honestly, now that residency is done, it's like I have my husband back. I kind of like him, so having him around is pretty awesome.

Speaking of awesome husbands, mine may have won the Husband of the Year Award. Again. He drove all the way down to Ikea to pick up a curtain rod, then back up the opposite direction to West Elm to get the curtains I had a 20 percent off coupon for. Wait, I'm not done...he then hung up the rod and the curtains. Still not done...none of us (of course, I also got Stella's vote) liked the way the curtains looked in the living room...so...down they went, and up went spackle and paint. So, even though window treatments are a no go in my living room, these ones are to die for. By the way, do you think Mr. Hubs is as happy as I am that residency is over? Just wondering.

Black Paned Windows

One of my friends commented that I'm on a white kick...I am SO on a white kick! And, you know what makes white even better? Three words: Black. Paned. Windows. Aren't they just dreamy? *Sigh.

[color kreyv]: White

It's no secret that I love white. The other day, Stella came into my room and said, "Well, you so-ten-lee (certainly) like white." I love it when my three year old gives her opinion--especially when it's exactly what I want to hear. Then I think to myself, she is so smart and has such good taste for a three year old. But, then, when it's not what I want to hear, I totally disregard it. After all, she's only three.

I Rug You, I Rug You Not

I love rugs. My current dream home consists of wood floors throughout and lots and lots of rugs. I currently have rugs in almost every room, but I had to remove the rug that was living under the dining room table. The reason? Stella Joyal.  I couldn't keep up with the vacuuming, and don't even get me started on the fun of cleaning up rice. I hope to someday, replace the rug in the dining room and add one to the kitchen (love this look), but before I do that, I'm going to have to add yet one more item to my wish list: a central vac system.

[color kreyv]: Pink & Red

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day? Whaaaat? We're exhausted over at this place. I haven't seen Mr. Hubs since Monday morning, and I haven't coherently seen him since Sunday night. Did that make sense? Probably not. But, then again, neither did me trying to turn on the garbage disposal by walking across the room and turning on the kitchen light. No idea where that little craziness came from. And, I have no idea why my husband's long hours make ME tired. I probably shouldn't tell him that. My point in all of this is that I hope we have nothing to do on Valentine's Day, except be together, that is.  That...would be awesome.

Monogram Love

I absolutely love adding a monogram (or two) to a room. It's cool and classic and sophisticated. Me likey. (Phrases like that perfectly illustrate that I clearly need more sophistication in my life.) My monogram is probably the trickiest letter. It's not symmetrical, it doesn't stand up on its own, and, well, it's just a line with a curly tail. The only cool thing about my monogram is that I have three lines with three curly tails. And even cooler? So does the mister. JJJ & JJJ. Is that meant to be, or what?! But still. I'm a little jealous of the rest of you with your M's, H's, T's...you get the point. I'm jealous. With a J.

Just Dreamy

I love a four poster bed, and I probably wouldn't mind just having any one of these bedrooms. I mean, really, they're all kind of awesome. So, whoever is keeping track of my wish list, you have some flexibility here. You also have some time, because, quite frankly, after the sister's visit, I could fall asleep on the floor under a newspaper. I'm plumb tuckered out. (I'm totally going to have to research the origin of that phrase, because now that I wrote it, I realize how weird it is.) Anyway, I'm tired...but in a good way...in a stayed up too late talking, shopped all day, hauled around two sassy toddlers, had so much fun way.  So, farewell, Brittni & Presley. Welcome back, sleep.

[color kreyv]: Kelly Green

I absolutely love kelly green. It's classy and fun all at the same time, and those are good things to be. Know what I love even more than kelly green? I'll tell you: Mr. Hubs being home during the day. I loved that today I could go grocery shopping while Hubs and Stella were at The Little Gym. Even when it took me a ridiculously long time to get the plastic veggie bag open, it was okay, because I wasn't in a rush. (I hate those things. I can't ever get them open. I always look around to see if someone is watching me. It feels like hours. Seriously.) Mostly, I love that our little fam can spend time together. Now, if only he could always work night shifts, but never need sleep, THAT would be perfect!

[color kreyv]: Blue

I've decided that more offices should really reconsider their decor. Or, just consider SOME decor. If any of them looked remotely like these pictures, I could stay forever (accompanied by an up to date People magazine, of course). I mean, don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed my time in the Jiffy Lube waiting area as well as the waiting areas for the different doctors' offices I've recently visited, but they could really use some umph, if you know what I mean. Tomorrow I get to go to the DMV. I can't decide what's worse: the DMV or the gynecologist. Unfortunately, no amount of decor would make either of these experiences better. No amount. Ever.

[color kreyv]: Periwinkle

I've never been a big purple person, but I have to say, these periwinkle rooms are very beautiful. Plus, isn't it just fun to say periwinkle? Give it a try why dontcha?! I think I like periwinkle, because it has some blue undertones, and blue I can totally do. I absolutely want the quilt in the first picture, which by the way is the home of Brooke Shields. Her entire house is gorgeous. I could move right in! I'm sure she'd just love to have me!

In potty training news, we had a great dayIf I'm stuck home for one more day I might explode, but it was a good day. It will all be worth it. Perhaps I should have done my potty training at Brooke's house, or is that too much for a first visit?

[color kreyv]: Mustard Yellow

I have one, just one single yellow piece of decor in my entire house. That is Stella's lamp. There's a problem with that, I mean have you SEEN these pictures? Could they BE any more chic? (That was meant to sound like Chandler Bing, in case you didn't catch that.) I love yellow, and mustard yellow is like the more sophisticated version of yellow, so what's not to like about that? And, more importantly, why don't I have more of it in my house? I love the seating in these pictures, and if any of you ever decide to buy the above-mentioned, below-pictured seating, I promise, I will put it in my house. Oh, and I won't even return it, either.

Not Too Shabby

I have always wanted to design a shabby chic guest room. I know, I know, that puts me at like ten guest rooms.  So...let's just say I need to rethink some things, but for now, let's just admire my vivid imagination, shall we? I love a little shabby chic as long as it is not overdone. (Especially love those overlapping frames in the first image. Gorg. Looks like a great diy to me.) As for this imaginary house of mine, who wants to come stay in it? Rumor has it that the guest rooms are spectacular, which totally makes up for the subpar food.
