Did you have a fun Halloween? Holidays are just so much fun with kids…especially because there is always chocolate involved. I like chocolate.  I like it a lot.

I love how versatile pillows are, and they definitely play a big part in setting the tone for a room. I've decided that more offices should really reconsider their decor. Or, just consider SOME decor. If any of them looked remotely like these pictures, I could stay forever (accompanied by an up to date People magazine, of course). I mean, don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed my time in the Jiffy Lube waiting area as well as the waiting areas for the different doctors' offices I've recently visited, but they could really use some umph, if you know what I mean. Tomorrow I get to go to the DMV. I can't decide what's worse: the DMV or the gynecologist. Unfortunately, no amount of decor would make either of these experiences better. No amount. Ever.

I like television. I'll admit it. When Stella goes down for a nap, I turn on the tv. The house is clean, the Bean's asleep, I am vegging. Ceiling Medallions as Wall Decor

I was originally going to post this in the [so cheap, so easy] series, and while this concept fits under the "so easy" category, it may not always be "so cheap". Ceiling medallions can range anywhere from seven to one hundred dollars and up. If you're anything like me, the medallions that you would like best, would inevitably not be the seven dollar ones. It's just life, people. I do, however, think some people with that gift of finding deals could probably create this look for a reasonable price. And, if you try to justify think like I do, you would know that it's still a good deal considering the price would be cheaper than a large piece of art. You with me? Thought so.

[color kreyv]: Gray

I love, LOVE gray. The next room that I (I meaning mostly the Mr. does all the work) paint is going to be gray. Gray is sophisticated. Gray is versatile. Gray is subtle. Gray can be spelled two ways, depending on how you're feeling. I just can't really say anything bad about gray.

Since my bedroom is the next room on the list to be painted, I am thinking I will go with a very light gray. I prefer light grays for bedrooms and the darker for other rooms. Just my preference. When choosing gray paint, make sure you are careful in your selection. Gray paint can be tricky, because some hues can look purple or bluish--just a tip!

Five Must Have Home Accessories

I think it's time I tell you about my other man--Nate Berkus. I've never been into talk shows, so I was excited when he started a show about interior design (and this, that, and the other). I'll be honest, the first time I watched the show, I was a little bit disappointed. I wanted less serious talk and more interior design talk. But, now I love it. I record it every day, and, as nerdy as it is, I sometimes take notes. Okay, I said it. I take notes. Let's move on.

I decided to start a repeating post titled, "Nate Says." This is kind of a joke at our house, because many a time, I share Nate's advice with my hubby. I start the sentence with, "Nate says..." Jeremy laughs at me, but I know he secretly loves it and probably takes notes himself. So, with that being said, this post is about Nate's five must have home accessories.

Sky High Windows

If we ever build a home, I want lots of windows--especially in the gathering room. I love huge windows on the back of a home. Of course, if I am going to have this, I've got to have a beautiful view behind my house (or at least not a view into someone else's house). Perhaps a view of some mountains...

To. Die. For.

I recently stumbled upon this beauty on 6th Street Design School. I love it! Granted, we will never need a house this large (as if there are people who NEED houses this big), but it's so fun to look at and get ideas from. This house is actually for sale in Provo, Utah. If we only lived there...

The exterior: look at that wonderful symmetry, the tall entry, not overdone on the landscaping (I'm guessing). I'm also guessing there are mountains close. I think I may have seen this place.

Ahh, the entry. Where to start? The staircases, the ceiling, the doors, lights? You get it. I love everything. I love all of the visual interest without being overdone. And, who doesn't love that fabulous clock? I told you: TO. DIE. FOR.

Aerial views of the living room. Amazing. Notice that none of the walls are painted anything but hues of white. The entire pallet is very neutral (floors, rugs, furniture, walls, etc.), yet it is far from boring. In fact, you hardly notice.

Pictures of the family room. Still, a very neutral palate, very calming. I love all of the random but not random pieces in the room! It really makes me want to stay a while just to take it all in! Love it all! This room was done by Alice Lane. I always love their work. If we ever move to Utah, I am definitely stopping by their store--most likely more than once!
