Ok. Are you dying right now because of how cute this is? Me, too. Spray painted letters covered in nickels, come on. So. Cute. Now, I do have a few disclaimers. I've thought of using coins in a project before, but I'm not sure about the whole defacement issue. And, my second disclaimer is that I'll stand by my easy label, but I'm not sure of the actual dollar amount on this project...feel free to count the nickels in the picture, and let the rest of us know how many are there! (I know someone will do it.)

There's a statue in Harrisburg, PA, entirely covered in pennies. It looks great, but even with pennies, it probably adds up!
ReplyDeleteSo if I counted/estimated anywhere close to correct I got 479 nickels. Which I think makes this projects $23.95 before letters and paint. I do love it! This is Meesa
ReplyDeleteOh that's funny. I got $18.50. Either way it's about $20 before letters & paint... :-)
ReplyDeleteWHAT TYPE OF MATERIAL DID YOU USE TO ADHERE THE COINS TO? I WOULD LOVE TO MAKE THIS FOR A GIFT FOR CHRISTMAS BUT IM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD BE STURDY ENOUGH TO HANG AS WELL AS HOLD THE COINS.
ReplyDelete@anonymous: any type of wooden letter would work. These can be purchased at most craft stores.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you do this?!!
ReplyDeleteOops! See comment below!
DeleteI didn't make this; however, I have done a project w pennies using hot glue.
ReplyDeleteI also think this could be really cool using small mirror tiles instead of the coins. :)
ReplyDeleteI got $21.80
ReplyDeleteIt's $23.90 so basically $25 + paint & letters. Pretty cute idea(:
ReplyDeleteWhere would I buy mirror tiles and about how much are they?
ReplyDeleteThese are actually nickels. :)
DeleteIt's more pricey but you could do this with dimes to add more meaning. "A penny for your thoughts, a nickel for a kiss, a dime if you tell me that you love me." My husband gives me dimes a random momments when we are in public when it maybe inappropriate to verbally say it. It's our little thing. I am so going to make this for our bedroom!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I've never heard that before!
DeleteWhat kind of spray paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteI didn't actually make this, but I like Krylon. It shouldn't matter too much, though since it will mostly be covered by nickels.
DeleteSo much more expensive guys--this was done with quarters ;)
