Things Are Looking Up

I'm pretty sure I've used that title before, but, let's be honest, it works. Aren't these ceilings amazing? I love the detail and character of the ceilings in these pictures. I would LOVE any of these. Actually, I would be happy with ceilings, period. And guess what--we may be getting ceilings sooner rather than later. (And walls and floors, too!) That's right, after weeks and weeks of waiting for permits, we're ready to dig, folks.  And though my ceilings won't be anything like these, they will be our ceilings, and I can't wait!

[color kreyv]: Kelly Green

Stella was sitting on my lap as I was about to source pictures for this post, so I asked her what her favorite color was.  She told me it was purple, blue, red, and black...so I chose kelly green. (I know...it's kind of like the way I ask Jeremy his opinion and then choose opposite of what he tells me. What can I say? Sometimes it helps me make a decision quicker.) Anyway, I do love me some kelly green. It's fresh, clean, and sophisticated.  Let's just make sure we don't overdo it, mmmkay? We wouldn't want anyone's house to look like a, umm, I can't think of anything clever. (I blame the five year old on my lap.) Let's just say that Jeremy really loves green, so he would like a lot of it.  That should help you make your decision on the amount you want in your own home.  See? It totally helps.

Steel Windows

Know what I LOVE--besides the fact that all ten seasons of Friends is now on Netflix? I love black steel windows. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but that's how much I love them: enough to mention them twice. Or three times. Seven times tops. I was completely bummed out that we couldn't get them for our house. I can't remember if it's because they were not available through our builder or that they cost thousands of dollars. Either way, not available. Steel windows are amazing--I love how the black is so sharp and clean and everything else I love about lines and black and squares and the combination of everything I just mentioned. I mean really, could there BE anything better?

Windows for Days

Oh my gosh, who else has eaten their kids' Halloween candy all. Weekend. Long?! Yeah, chocolate is so awesome. Stella does ask for a "Stella tax," so I do have to steal share the candy in secrecy, but I'm pretty good at that. In other news, raise your hand if you are absolutely in love with these windows. (You do know I'm raising my hand, right?!) I would love windows like this.  Of course, I would have to have window coverings, because everyone knows when it gets dark at night, and you can't see out, people are looking in. I'm not paranoid, I just really don't need people watching me devour my kids' Halloween candy.

[color kreyv]: Emerald Green

How absolutely gorgeous is emerald green? I love it. It is so bold, refreshing, and sophisticated. I think I have pinned the first image at least three times. I want those chairs for my own dining room table. I'm pretty sure that if I had those chairs, all I'd need is a crown--and I'm really not opposed to that.

Round Table Love

I am really loving round tables. I still want a rectangular table for eating and conversing and such, but I think I need a round one, too--for games, of course. After playing cards (and losing repeatedly), I decided to blame it on my bad position at a rectangular table, and, of course, my arm length. I mean, the only way to make a speedy card game fair is to have a round table. I was totally at a disadvantage, and I don't want any of my guests to ever feel like that when they play speedy card games at my house. Sometimes, you just have to buy awesome furniture for the good of your guests. What can I say? I'm just trying to be a good hostess.

Nice and Tidy | Clean & Simple Spaces

I'm back! We had such a fun trip to Texas, and the 13 hour drive (each way, mind you) really wasn't that bad--a lot of middle of nowheres, but it went by pretty quickly. Stella, of course, was in heaven, because she watched about 18 hours of shows. I'm not proud (or exaggerating), but momma's gotta do, what momma's gotta do, know what I'm sayin'?

I really love these spaces. They are clean and easy and exactly the vibe I want in my own home. But, even the cleanest and easiest of homes are no competition for a four year old, just ask Stella who thought it would be fun to put my wedding ring in a teeny box with Easter grass, that, of course, I threw away when I was cleaning. I'm so anal OCD such a habit of creature that as soon as I saw that it wasn't in the spot that I ALWAYS put it in (and after two hours of looking all over the place), I turned to the garbage. And there it was--in the box under the Easter grass.  Ain't nothin' clean and easy about that!

[color kreyv]: Pale, Pale Blue

That's right: pale blue with two pales, that's the way I like it. Isn't it the best? So, speaking of blue, did you guys watch How I Met Your Mother (or HIMYM as we call it in the biz)? (If you're trying to figure out what this has to do with blue, don't try. It has nothing to do with it, I was just needing to change the subject.) What did you think of the finale? Apparently, lots of fans hated it. I liked it. In fact, I thought it was legendary. And so is pale, pale blue.

Neutrals, Wood, and a Touch of Gray

Happy April 1? What? How in the world did that happen? I have no idea. No. I-dea. I know these images aren't nearly as springy as yesterday's yellow doors, but these are me: Miss Neutral Nelly. I LOVE the natural wood, the grays, blacks, and whites, and the ease of these rooms. What do you think? Blah or fab?

[color kreyv]: Pastels

You guys, this Daylight Savings business is kicking my behind. Who would have thought that skipping one hour could totally throw off my game, because it is. And when will I stop thinking to myself, "It's 3:00, but really it's 2:00." I'm giving myself the week to get adjusted, and then I've got to do some major sleep training. On myself.

In other news, aren't these pastels amazing? I'm loving how easy, breezy, beautiful they are (totally stole that).  Kind of makes me want to buy some pastel stuff--change things up a bit.  I know. My problems are much deeper than Daylight Savings. My name is Jamie. I'm an interior design-aholic.

Round Tables

The more I see round tables, (and the longer I dream of a new house), the more I want one. I know. Nobody is surprised by that statement. I mean, if I'm being totally honest, I kind of want one of each: one round table, one rectangular table. They certainly both have their place. Plus, I'm thinking I could totally dominate at Nertz (fast-paced card game) if I didn't have such a long way to reach. And that's important, dontcha think?!

My Someday List | Top 3 Items

My someday list is a list of things that I want when we build or buy a home. Someday. I'll be honest, the list is pretty long, but I can definitely narrow down my top three: an awesome four poster bed; a big ol' table (with upholstered chairs which is actually Jeremy's request, so I'll definitely pretend that I don't care about them and make sure it doesn't come out of my decorating budget); and a white kitchen with white subway tile and dark grout. What's on your someday list?

Windows. Lots and Lots of Windows.

Oh, how I love windows…great big, let-the-light-shine-in windows. Aren't these gorg?  Sigh.  An-y-way…how was your weekend? I have to say, I love a long weekend. Let me rephrase: I love a long weekend when Hubs in not working. We watched a movie, saw Disney Princesses and Star Wars characters at the library, went to lunch with friends, went iceskating, had dinner with family, had a game night, and saw Frozen.  And then we had family nap time to recover from all of the fun we had this weekend. Oh my gosh I love my little family. And these windows.

Our Home | Living & Dining Room

Today, I'm showing you my living and dining room (which is all just one room that includes the kitchen as well). When we moved to Utah, it was the first time we saw our home in person. After driving 25 hours across the country then unpacking the moving truck (I probably mostly watched, but it looked exhausting.), I started arranging furniture. And it didn't fit. I moved the furniture around and around for a long time, and this is the (only) arrangement that worked. There were some tears, but luckily, our couch fits into the space it's in, or there would have been a major meltdown. I like the furniture arrangement, but it is tighter than I would have liked between the wall of Stella and the second armchair. The fireplace and I have a love/hate relationship. I love it, but in a house this small, it takes up WAY too much room. The bay window is great, but it is too small and too shallow to accommodate any furniture. Anyway, it works, and I really do love this home.  We've lived in eight houses in twelve and a half years, and I may or may not be getting pickier every time we move. The more houses we live in, the more I learn what I don't want in our next house!
