Colorful Couches

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend. I did--mostly because I got a brand new, super cute, practically perfect nephew. Oh, and I had lunch with some of my favorite people and later ate sushi at a totally awkward party. Good stuff, and I mean everything, not just the sush. (Yes, I call it sush, which is a super awesome word, because it can be both a noun and a verb (ie. Do you sush?).

Anyway…that was so far off topic, that I had to start a new paragraph. Colorful couches: I love them. I've always thought it would be fun to have one in a sitting room. We are actually going to have a sitting room in our new house, but it's not going to be a sitting room.  It's going to be a roller skating/ballet/piano with no piano room. Yup, it's going to be empty. Completely. Empty.  Sigh…no green couch for me! Oh well, I could really stand to improve on my roller skating skills.

[color kreyv]: Kelly Green

Stella was sitting on my lap as I was about to source pictures for this post, so I asked her what her favorite color was.  She told me it was purple, blue, red, and black...so I chose kelly green. (I know...it's kind of like the way I ask Jeremy his opinion and then choose opposite of what he tells me. What can I say? Sometimes it helps me make a decision quicker.) Anyway, I do love me some kelly green. It's fresh, clean, and sophisticated.  Let's just make sure we don't overdo it, mmmkay? We wouldn't want anyone's house to look like a, umm, I can't think of anything clever. (I blame the five year old on my lap.) Let's just say that Jeremy really loves green, so he would like a lot of it.  That should help you make your decision on the amount you want in your own home.  See? It totally helps.

[color kreyv]: Emerald Green

How absolutely gorgeous is emerald green? I love it. It is so bold, refreshing, and sophisticated. I think I have pinned the first image at least three times. I want those chairs for my own dining room table. I'm pretty sure that if I had those chairs, all I'd need is a crown--and I'm really not opposed to that.

Best. Chairs. Ever.

Ok, I can't really prove that these are, in fact, THE best chairs, but, let's be honest...They. Are. A-mazing. Obviously I love a little nailhead trim detail, because, really, we all need a little bit of that in our lives, right? Which one is your fave? I don't like to discriminate, so I would gladly take all three. Actually, make that two of each.

Just a Touch of Paint

I'm definitely a sucker for an all white room, but there's no denying the complete and utter awesomeness of the paint in these rooms. I mean, really, how yummy is that lilac in the first picture, the bold stripes in the second, and don't even get me started on the ceiling in the last.  I love them all, especially the lilac. And, of course I would need the couch to go with it. And obviously, the windows...

[color kreyv]: Mint & Navy

I'm not going to lie; these rooms are pretty freaking adorable. I'm super loving the mint and navy combo, aren't you? I feel like navy is a hard color, meaning it's dark and anchors a space. This sounds crazy, but I'm going to say it anyway, because, well, that boat sailed long ago. If colors had personalities, navy would be the serious color. Mint, on the other hand, is soft; it's playful and light, and I just love the juxtaposition of the two colors.  Another bonus of this combo? It is definitely gender-neutral, which I love.

[color kreyv]: Teal

I am loving the different ways teal is used in each of these spaces, don't you? I had the Traditional Homes image saved on one of my Pinterest boards, so I decided to see what other teal pretties I could find.  I have to say, I was quite successful.  That Pinterest sure is amazing.

Speaking of Pinterest, I have noticed a bit of mocking from the men I have been around.  We hung out with friends on Saturday, and then another group of friends on Monday, and both times, Pinterest and (I am merely quoting the offenders) the lameness of it came up. Lame? Ummm, is this seriously coming from the gender who created fantasy sports leagues? FANTASY sports. Are you kidding me? Cataloging recipes (that I at least think about making) and beautiful interiors (that will definitely come in handy when we build my our dream house) in an organized way is NOT lame. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am mostly just looking at pretty pictures (and then organizing said pictures),  BUT AT LEAST THEY'RE REAL!  No. Freaking. Comparision. I mean, really guys,  did you really think you would win an argument with something with the word fantasy in it. I'm thinking no. Pinterest: 1; Fantasy Sports: 0.

Large Nightstands

Know what I love? Big ol' nightstands. Don't you? Just picture one or two of these babies next to a great four poster bed. Don't I just have a great imagination? If only some of these things would actually happen. I had this great plan of slowly buying furniture and storing it before we build or buy a home. And then...I considered the fact that we can't buy furniture for a room that doesn't exist when we don't have the dimensions. Details, schmeetails. Guess I'll just go back to imagining. Imaginations don't care about dimensions. Or money. It's my safe place.

Pretty Lil' Places

I love these little nooks and crannies--even though I have no idea what a cranny is and have never heard it used without the word nook. I think it just means a little space, so we'll run with it. Anyway, love these pretty lil' places--nooks, crannies and all.

[color kreyv]: Pastels

You guys, this Daylight Savings business is kicking my behind. Who would have thought that skipping one hour could totally throw off my game, because it is. And when will I stop thinking to myself, "It's 3:00, but really it's 2:00." I'm giving myself the week to get adjusted, and then I've got to do some major sleep training. On myself.

In other news, aren't these pastels amazing? I'm loving how easy, breezy, beautiful they are (totally stole that).  Kind of makes me want to buy some pastel stuff--change things up a bit.  I know. My problems are much deeper than Daylight Savings. My name is Jamie. I'm an interior design-aholic.

[color kreyv]: Pale Blue & Chartreuse

I'm not sure where or when this color combination came to me (not that I invented it, obvi), but if I had to guess, I'd say probably 3:00 a.m. when I was trying to sleep but instead thinking of pretty rooms. Isn't that when all your good ideas come to you (as your husband is just snoozing away, partly on your side of the imaginary bed line)? I have always loved pale blue, so I'm picturing the perfect shade of pale blue, bright whites, and accents of chartreuse…and not an obnoxious blinding chartreuse, but just a subtle chartreuse. Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm talking about, and the color swatches are being stored safely in my brain.

[color kreyv]: Mint Green & Pink

Is it just me, or is everyone thinking Ummm, whoa. Where did summer go? Don't get me wrong. I don't feel one bit bad about it, because I LOVE fall (and I try really hard not to think about what comes after fall). Anyway, like it or not, here are some bright, sunny, pink and mint pictures for those of you who just can't seem to let go of summer. For the rest of us, we can enjoy these too, because let's be honest, they're just plain pretty.

[color kreyv]: Green

I'm such a neutral girl, and it's even more evident in our new place. (I'll try to post some pics next week.) Even though it's not even close to being decorated, it's completely neutral with lots of grays, whites, blacks, and wood tones. My "pop" of color is navy and a little bit of green...I know. I'm crazy. Here's the thing: I'm just naturally drawn to those colors. It's like the whole red lipstick theory: I love it on other people, but I don't think it loves me. In other words, I still choose color for other people's homes (if they want it), but not for my own. I often have clients and friends tell me that they "need" to use a different color than they've used in other rooms. I say go with the colors that you love--even if you've already used them. Otherwise, you're just not going to love your space, and you may just end up having your husband paint it tan like a day after you painted it yellow. P.S. I kind of think green is just as neutral as the rest of the "neutrals" I listed. Maybe it's just an edgier neutral. Or, maybe I'm just making things up. Either way, it's definitely making a statement in these rooms.

A Place for Velvet Furniture

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was kind of wet with some sore throats, but regardless, it was the weekend, and weekends are kind of the best part of the week, dontcha think? I've come to the conclusion (again) that I could never live somewhere with a lot of rainfall...like St. Louis has been the last few weeks. It's cloudy and rainy and wet. I've never really liked being out in the rain , and I REALLY don't like being out in the rain grocery shopping, loading a toddler into the car, or going to a place with no parking (inside snuggling is a completely different story--that's pretty awesome). Speaking of things that don't like to get wet (other than me), check out this velvet furniture. Pretty maj, right? I think I could definitely use a velvet sofa in my sitting room. With my baby grand. In my imaginary house. I guess I should have stuck with piano lessons. Maybe Stella will be a pianist. If not, who wants to come play the piano while I sit on my velvet furniture and listen to you? I know. This blog of mine sparks quite the imagination in me, doesn't it?

[color kreyv]: Moss Green

First of all, it's May. May, people!! May! Can you even believe it? Where is the time going? Second of all, let's discuss moss green: gorgeous, fresh, timeless, and I'm going to spell colour like the Canadians, because it looks rich like the colour moss. Need I say more?

[color kreyv]: Mint Green

I know mint green is nothing new, but geez, I have really been craving it. It must be my hormones. I don't know how hormones could crave color, but I can usually blame just about everything else on hormones, so I'm going with that. The sad thing about the color mint is that I don't own any. I should get on that, stat. So, in summary:  I need something mint....and probably some chocolate, just to be safe.
