What's Your Favorite Color?

Is your favorite color in your home? Is this same color in your wardrobe? I thought about this last night when I ordered four new shirts: two white, one cream, and one mint. I'll be honest, the mint one was a stretch for me, and though I really like it, I ordered it, because I "need" more color in my wardrobe.  I know. I'm crazy like that, buying a mint shirt and all. Anyway, there's a point to this post...

This same thing happens all the time with design clients. They tell me that they really like certain colors, but that they "need" to use something different in the next room.  Here are my thoughts: You don't "need" to use different colors in every room. If you are drawn to certain colors, use those colors in your home. I love all of these rooms from the very colorful, to the pastel, to the neutral. But, I am definitely drawn to some more than others. Buy what you like, just because you like it, not because it's a certain color that you "need". I promise you, you'll like your house a lot better, because it will be more you. Plus, you won't end up painting a room yellow, and then covering it up with tan the very next day. I've heard that's kind of a bummer.  What's your favorite color?

[color kreyv]: Pale, Pale Blue

That's right: pale blue with two pales, that's the way I like it. Isn't it the best? So, speaking of blue, did you guys watch How I Met Your Mother (or HIMYM as we call it in the biz)? (If you're trying to figure out what this has to do with blue, don't try. It has nothing to do with it, I was just needing to change the subject.) What did you think of the finale? Apparently, lots of fans hated it. I liked it. In fact, I thought it was legendary. And so is pale, pale blue.

[color kreyv]: Pastels

You guys, this Daylight Savings business is kicking my behind. Who would have thought that skipping one hour could totally throw off my game, because it is. And when will I stop thinking to myself, "It's 3:00, but really it's 2:00." I'm giving myself the week to get adjusted, and then I've got to do some major sleep training. On myself.

In other news, aren't these pastels amazing? I'm loving how easy, breezy, beautiful they are (totally stole that).  Kind of makes me want to buy some pastel stuff--change things up a bit.  I know. My problems are much deeper than Daylight Savings. My name is Jamie. I'm an interior design-aholic.

Big Girl Room | Stella

Somebody may still be obsessing over the pale blue and chartreuse combination, so somebody decided to make a design board. For herself "client."  Named Stella.  Yes, Stella...as in my daughter…as in the one who just turned four and is on her fourth bedroom. I She needs it.  Plus, we may be moving this summer, and I really think it will help me her adjust.  For now, let's not bring it up to Hubs until we find the right opportunity, mmmkay? Timing is everything. BTW, Stella loves it. (The sheets and quilt didn't quite translate no matter how I uploaded them, so go to Serena & Lily and check them out.  They are perfect!)

[color kreyv]: Pale Blue & Chartreuse

I'm not sure where or when this color combination came to me (not that I invented it, obvi), but if I had to guess, I'd say probably 3:00 a.m. when I was trying to sleep but instead thinking of pretty rooms. Isn't that when all your good ideas come to you (as your husband is just snoozing away, partly on your side of the imaginary bed line)? I have always loved pale blue, so I'm picturing the perfect shade of pale blue, bright whites, and accents of chartreuse…and not an obnoxious blinding chartreuse, but just a subtle chartreuse. Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm talking about, and the color swatches are being stored safely in my brain.

Neutral or Not | Nursery Love

Aren't nurseries just the best rooms of the house? For starters, they include babies, and, as if that's not enough, they also have whimsy, charm, color, and calmness. What more could you ask for? I especially love these three spaces, because of the color palettes and the neutral quality they each posses. Any of these could be for a boy or a girl (or both) just by adding simple touches of feminine or masculine colors and accessories. I can't even decide which one is my favorite, but I am really digging the blue and yellow in the first one (and the floors in all of them). Which one is your fave?

To. Die. For. | Beautiful Bedrooms

Let's just stop and take a moment...I mean, really, are we so dying over these rooms or what? Gor. Geous. Speaking of bedrooms, I'm seriously considering getting one of my own. In a hotel. Poor Stella has had a rough time adjusting to the move, and she gets up almost every night--more than once. It starts with a trip to the bathroom (regardless of when we cut her off from liquids), and then she attempts to climb into bed with us. (Ummm, if you're not Daddy, get back into your own bed.) I take her back to her room, where she willingly goes, but she returns one to two more times each night. Holy cow, you're killin' me, Smalls, you're killin' me!  It's a good thing that little girl is so freaking cute! And, I'm hoping that like with everything else pertaining to raising children, that this is just a phase...that will end VERY soon. Now, let's just look again at these beautiful bedrooms and pretend I'm taking an uninterrupted nap.

[color kreyv]: Pale Blue & Orange

All that talk about pale blue yesterday made me want to post more pale blue. Here it is with orange. It goes with so many colors! See what I'm sayin'? I love this combination. It's happy; it's fresh; it's interesting. What more could you ask for...besides another room to decorate...in pale blue and orange?

[color kreyv]: Red, White, & Blue

I'm from Utah, and in Utah, red, white, and blue last the entire month of July. Utah's birthday is on July 24th, so that means more fireworks, more parades, and more red, white, and blue! I like it that way, because I love celebrating Independence Day, and this way, you can stretch it out all month!

I miss going home to my hometown of Delta, Utah. Delta has THE best celebration. They have the best parade (all the salt water taffy you can eat--um, yum), park festivities, people, derby, and fireworks. Delta, Utah: the little town that triples in size on the Fourth of July.

[color kreyv]: Pale Blue

I. Love. Pale Blue. Love it. I not only love pale blue decor, but I love it on the hubs. I always buy him pale blue shirts. There was a time in our marriage when he would actually ask me what I wanted him to wear. He knew that was easier than having to change. He then went through a rebellious stage where he didn't care what I wanted him to wear. He was taking a stand. Well, ten years later, he asks--not every time, but a lot of times.

I have to say, though, that I like most of his clothes, so I don't usually care what he wears. You see, after so many years, I have gotten rid of everything I detested. Yes, I said detest: his navy Adidas work out shirt that wasn't even navy because it was so old; his orange Wu-Tang Clan shirt; and worst of all, the blue Adidas shoes with orange stripes. My first gift to him when we were dating? A new pair of shoes. It wasn't even a holiday, just me being "nice."
